National Security Panda Comic Series – Volume 2

Carefully planned by the Shine Tak Foundation and fully supported by the China Travel Service Group, the second volume of the National Security Panda Comic Collection, titled “The Giant Panda’s Journey to Learn About National Security,” was officially released on April 15, the National Security Education Day.

This book has been included in the Education Bureau’s recommended list of national security teaching materials, targeting students from kindergarten to junior secondary levels. Featuring the widely beloved and adorable giant panda as the main character, the book takes students on visits to more than a dozen Hong Kong landmarks.

Breaking away from traditional didactic approaches, the book cleverly integrates concepts of national security into familiar everyday life scenarios.

Purpose

To enhance the effectiveness of innovative national security education and raise overall public awareness, this picture book aligns with recent policy directions by incorporating national security knowledge into the foundational education system. It aims to instill in children a sense of national security awareness, social responsibility, and patriotism. The content covers a range of themes, including the spirit of the rule of law and environmental protection, among others.

Key Features

  • Real-life Teaching Approach:
Uses vivid comic stories and everyday examples to explain concepts in a simple and easy-to-understand way, enabling even young children to grasp basic ideas of national security.

  • AR Interactive Experience:
Incorporates Augmented Reality (AR) technology. By scanning a QR code with a mobile phone, the giant panda “comes to life” on screen, interactively demonstrating safety knowledge—greatly enhancing students’ interest and focus in reading.

  • Extended Learning Resources:
Includes QR codes that link to additional knowledge, along with fun learning points such as “Do baby pandas sweat?” to spark curiosity and encourage independent exploration.

  • Building Identity:
The Shande Foundation hopes that through engaging and lively high-quality content, children can gradually develop a strong sense of national identity from an early age.
